Jordan is a professional cellist and music teacher with over two decades of experience performing and teaching in the UK and internationally.

He began learning the cello at the age of 11 in Hull before studying at Chetham’s School of Music, The Royal Northern College of Music and the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen, Germany. His teachers have included Philip Higham, Christoph Richter and Anna Shuttleworth with further study and guidance from musicians including Gary Hoffman, Ralph Kirschbaum, Hannah Roberts, Frans Helmerson, Alexander Baillie and Karine Georgian.

As a performer, Jordan works across a wide range of musical settings, from chamber music and orchestral performance to session and recording work.

Alongside performing, Jordan spent five years teaching music abroad in South East Asia, where he worked as a cello teacher, classroom music teacher and chamber music coach, conducted orchestras and led the school’s instrumental music programme. He also composed and recorded a complete film score during his time there.

Jordan teaches cello and music theory to students of different ages and levels, from those taking their first steps on the instrument to more advanced players preparing for examinations, auditions or performances. His teaching combines a strong technical foundation with an emphasis on musical understanding, curiosity and enjoyment.

He is particularly interested in helping students develop not only as instrumentalists, but as independent musicians who understand what they are playing and why.
